A fun game to encourage passing and moving quickly to bring success against a defence.
This fun game highlights the importance of passing and moving the ball at speed, and how that can impact the opposition.
It can be used to improve passing technique in a more pressurised environment but without direct opponents. The game also supports teamwork and communication.
Mark out an area relative to the age and ability of your players. You will play with four to six players per area.
Within the area, mark out a small square (the ‘moat’) and, within the square, place a cone with a ball on top (the ‘castle’).
One player defends the castle; four attacking players aim to pass the ball to knock the castle over. No player is allowed into the moat.
The defender looks to move around the moat to block a path to the castle.
Play for a set time – if the defender prevents the attackers from knocking down the castle, they earn a point.
Attackers (Reds) spread out around the area
One defender (Blue) aims to protect the ball in the middle of the area
Attackers aim to pass the ball quickly to create an opening in order to knock the ball off the cone
