An Easter-themed practice encouraging decision-making around when to dribble and when to pass
This fun Easter-themed game encourages decision-making: when to dribble, when to pass and can act as a great warm-up for a session.
Mark out an area relative to the age, ability and number of your players. Scatter cones or small markers (Easter baskets) around the area. Each player has a ball (their magic egg). You can divide players into teams if you want, or they can play individually.
The aim is for players to collect as many Easter baskets as possible by dribbling over them. Players dribble their egg around the grid, aiming to “drop it off” in a basket (cone). Once they collect a basket, they must dribble back to a neutral area before collecting another.
You can add a range of challenges to change the game, for example:
You can also add defenders (bad Easter bunnies) or change the size of the area to increase the challenge.
You can also turn it into a team competition with teams - which team collects the most eggs in 60–90 seconds?
Close control: keep the ball close while moving quickly
Head up: be aware of baskets and other players
Change of speed and direction: speed up to escape traffic, slow down to control
Celebrate bravery and effort: encourage creative dribbling and turns
